Complementary fields

For major Gestan files (contacts, products, machines, etc.), it is possible to manage specific complementary fields.

You can store in Gestan :

• text fields, such as the make of the car or the name of your contacts' favorite animal;
• numeric zones, such as the number of cars, or years of study;
• boolean (yes/no switches), such as whether the car has a metallic paint or not;
• date fields, such as vehicle purchase date;
• combo areas, such as vehicle colour. In this case, the button on the left will allow you to specify the different colors possible.

Gestan provides you with 5 fields per type (25 areas available).

Access : Tools → application settings → additional fields

For each additional field you want to manage, enter a label describing it.

In the particular case of the contacts file, it is also possible to manage configurable fields for children, to do this check the box 2.

You can specify the number of decimals of the numeric fields that can be configured, as well as the presence or absence of the thousands separator.

To do this, simply enter the number of decimals at the end of the label, the previous of the sign ^ , and the following of the sign - if the presence of the thousands separator is not desired.

For example the label “ code CB^0-” will allow to store a number without decimals or separator of thousands, while the label “Progression ^2” will store a number to two decimals.

Using the 1 button, it is possible to reset, or update by any value, all the records in the file for the additional field in question.

With the above settings, a Add-ons tab will be displayed on the contact sheet, as below.
